Jordan & Amber | Our Story

Amber grew up in the country with her 3 siblings and parents both of whom fished their own fishing fleets. It goes without saying a combination of entrepreneurial upbringing and family oriented hard work led her to becoming a business owner herself. Amber's first pay cheque was issued from Bluefin Restaurant in 2002. She began her career in the industry at 14 years old, and purchased the Bluefin restaurant in 2017.

Jordan grew up on the Island as well, taking advantage of all that PEI has to offer. From gaining respect of the dairy and potato industry on his Grandparents farm as a young boy, to fishing his first season of lobster in the spring of 2020, his passion for food and appreciation for the background work involved has always been present.

In 2006, Amber attended Universite Saint Anne in a french immersion program and later went on to study business at the University of Prince Edward Island. After Jordan graduated from the Culinary Institute of Canada, he continued his culinary journey cooking in restaurants, resorts, and hotels across Canada. When Jordan moved back to the Island, he expanded his knowledge of the food industry by gaining experience in grocery retail and marketing and sales of food service.

In her 20's, Amber was employed by a small legal practice in Charlottetown, eventually making her way to government and spent 4 years working in the Premier's Office of Prince Edward Island. Nevertheless, she always found her way back to the industry she loved, working part time at bars and diners in the food & beverage industry.

Amber and Jordan’s paths finally crossed in 2019 when Jordan became Ambers Sysco Rep, and the rest you can say is history. Together Amber and Jordan were taking on the challenge of rejuvenating the Bluefin Restaurant together, when it, unfortunately, burned in May 2020. After some time and reflection, Strait Goods became a dream turned reality in December 2020 in Fortune PEI.

You can now find them working side by side at Strait Goods as best friends and partners for life. Amber and Jordan welcomed their first daughter together, Lolly in March 2022. The next generation is already getting her restaurant training, working alongside mom and dad, helping them with the next chapter of Strait Goods - which moved to a new permanent location in Souris in June 2022.

You can now find Strait Goods across from the Souris Harbour and Magdeline Ferry Terminal at 45 Breakwater Street, Souris, PEI.
